BEFORE YOU MAKE ANOTHER OFFER

There's a chapter in the negotiation series called Anchoring.It opens with a property that had failed to sell three times.
The price had been reduced to £135,000 - which had become the anchor
that every subsequent negotiation was measured against.
Except I didn't measure against it.Instead, I introduced a different anchor entirely - not a number, but a question.
I asked the agent what they'd comfortably achieve on the resale once completed to a very good standard.
They said £185,000. I mentioned my refurbishment and 2 storey rear extension budget was around £100,000.
I never stated an offer price. I let the economics imply one.
Five weeks later, my offer of £90,000 was accepted.
